From a Cardboard Box To the Box Office

Once upon a time, a baby was found in a  cardboard box - and that baby was ME! Yep!  I was found in a cardboard  box when I was a week to 10 days old. 

The  caretaker of the Tally Ho Apartment Building in Wheeling, West  Virginia, stumbled over the baby in the box when he came to work at 6  a.m. I became known as "The Tally Ho Baby" in the local newspapers and  became a Ward of the State of West Virginia, which meant the state of WV  would provide for the baby for one month, hoping that my mother would  come back to claim me.

After  a month had passed, there was a dinner party for Judge McKee, and a  young, prominent attorney and  his wife, Lucretia and George Bailey,  went up to the Judge and asked,  "Whatever happened to 'The Tally Ho  Baby?" "Did her mother come back to claim her?"

Judge   McKee said, "No, George - it's very sad. Her mother never returned, so   Monday morning, we will ship her to the State Orphanage in   Charleston."

George and Lu Bailey protested, "No, you can't! We'd love to have The Tally Ho Baby. Please let us adopt her!"

So   Monday morning - instead of the baby being transported to the State   Orphanage - Lucretia and George Bailey were in the Judge's chambers  adopting "The Tally Ho Baby" - and best of all - they adopted me SIGHT  UNSEEN!
